TEXAS PECAN REPORT (via Phoenix, Arizona)


TEXAS (Central, South, Eastern Areas) 

Deliveries by growers to delivery points were very light. Demand was 
moderate for good quality pecans. Natives are currently being harvested.  
Harvesting is expected to continue to decline, as most harvesting has been 
completed for the season. Harvested quality has been variable.
 
Demand was moderate for the retail and gift pack trade. Buyers have been 
making purchases from other production areas or are waiting for 
additional availability of pecans.

The weather forecast for the next week calls for low temperatures ranging 
from the upper 20s to upper 50s, and highs ranging from the upper 50s to 
low 70s. There is a 10-50 percent chance of precipitation across the 
state on Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27.

Prices paid to growers (noon Tuesday, January 16, 2018 through noon 
Tuesday, January 23, 2018) at buyers delivery points or F.O.B. the 
orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound in-shell of 
generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise 
stated.

Natives/Seedlings (deliveries very light) machine harvested 38-42% meat 
yield 120-151 mostly 135-150 occasional higher and lower yard tree lots 
80-120 mostly 80-100 occasional higher and lower

EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED IN LATE OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER 2018.
